The countdown has started already, and I am racing to finish up my kids’ costumes hoping to make it on time to the Halloween party hosted by the Tokiwa Park next week.
This is with nostalgia that I stay awake every night to finish up a piece of my son’s costume, remembering how I used to do the same before a big convention.
Fortunately for me, kids are much smaller and therefore easier to make clothes for. This year, I have decided to go with a Link from Zelda theme and dress up my son as Link in Link and the minish cap. My daughter will also be Link, but from the classic Ocarina of Time. Also, since the wool here is stupidly cheap, I decided to go with knitting this year. Here’s my daughter’s kit right now:
That being said, Halloween wouldn’t be complete without a pumpkin and I have been again trying to find the perfect one. Actually, I have been struggling to find one…
This year, I figured I would look around the city for some before ordering one. My try at growing some didn’t really work so I figured I would ask around if someone had some to sell me.
Well it turns out Ube is not the best for pumpkins. However, my husband heard of a festival in Yamaguchi city where they definitely sell some and he is leaving early tomorrow in a quest to find our new pumpkin friend (who will end up likely into soup).
My costume making have been the center of the last few weeks and I will make sure to share my results as I go.
Are you ready for Halloween?
