Weekly Kanji – 風 – wind

The family has been out of commission for almost a week, down with a cold. Of course, everyone has been sick one after the other so it’s been dragging for a while!

This week’s kanji is 風 – wind – because it is used in 風邪 – common cold.

Kun : かぜ、かざ (Kaze, kaza)

On: フウ、フ (fuu, fu)

We find it in :

Paralysis : 中風 (chuufuu)

Common cold : 風邪 (Kaze)

Cool breeze : 涼風 (ryoufu)

West wind : 西風 (Nishikaze)

Wind : 風 (Kaze)

I caught a cold – 風邪を引いた (Kaze wo hiita)
